The top mobile operators in Bangladesh have announced the launch of a 5G network on a limited scale, providing ultra-fast internet, low latency, advanced connectivity, and smart services. This 5G network will be able to handle many more devices in the next generation, making it crucial for smart transportation and advanced healthcare applications.
Robi, the country’s second largest operator, has first launched 5G services in a small area in Dhaka, Chittagong and some areas of Sylhet. Those areas are Fakirapul (Paltan), some areas of Dhaka University, Moghbazar Chowrasta, Khulshi in Chattogram, and Sagor Dighir Par.
The country’s largest telecom operator, Grameenphone (GP) also decided to launch 5G services at about the same time as Robi. Grameenphone initially decided to launch its 5G services in all divisional cities of Bangladesh. While GP is talking about launching 5G services in all parts of the country, many have said that they are not getting 5G services. On this issue, company officials have said that 5G services are currently limited to certain areas and it will be expanded gradually.
Robi’s initial number of connections is not yet known, but Robi officials said Robi aims to connect 200, 5G towers by 2025. You are also aware that the 5G network has been providing advanced internet services in many countries around the world for a long time, and it has been launched for the first time in Bangladesh. GP officials also said that they are very happy to launch 5G services for the first time and want to take Bangladesh further by providing improved internet services to their customers.
